Drag-and-drop reordering

Merging several PDFs is Premium: up to 50 files at 100 MB each. The free plan handles 1 file at a time, 10 MB
100% client-side processing for maximum privacy

How to use Merge PDF

  1. Add your PDF files

Drag your PDFs into the drop zone, or click to browse. Merging several PDFs is a Premium feature: Premium takes up to 50 files at 100 MB each. The free plan handles 1 file at a time, up to 10 MB, so it cannot combine files.

  2. Put them in the right order

Drag the thumbnails to reorder. The merged document follows the order shown left to right, top to bottom.

  3. Merge

Click Merge. The work happens in your browser, so a 200-page combine finishes in a second or two on a modern laptop and rather slower on an older phone.

  4. Download and check

Save the result and open page 1, the last page, and one join in the middle. Those three spots catch almost every ordering mistake.

When to use Merge PDF

  • Combining a scanned contract that arrived as one PDF per page
  • Assembling receipts and invoices into a single file for an expense claim
  • Merging a cover letter and CV into one document before applying for a job
  • Joining chapters or sections into one file before printing

FAQ

There is no cap on the finished document. What limits you is your plan: merging several PDFs is Premium, which takes up to 50 files at 100 MB each. The free plan handles 1 file at a time, up to 10 MB, so it cannot combine files. Either way the merge runs on your device, so speed depends on your hardware.
No. All merging happens locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Yes. After adding your files you can drag and drop them to set the exact order before creating the merged PDF.
No. Pages are copied across as they are, with no re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. The trade-off is file size: the merged document is roughly as large as all the inputs combined.
Not directly. An encrypted PDF cannot be read until the password is removed, even for local processing. Use Unlock PDF first if you know the password, then merge.
The merged file follows the order the files appear in the list, and computers sort names as text — so scan_10 comes before scan_2. Either rename with leading zeros (scan_02) or drag the thumbnails into the order you want before merging.
Nothing caps the finished document, but the plan caps how many files you can add. The free plan handles 1 file at a time, up to 10 MB, which is not enough to merge; merging several PDFs is Premium, which accepts up to 50 files at 100 MB each. Above that the real ceiling is your device memory — a laptop handles hundreds of text PDFs comfortably, while a phone merging dozens of image-heavy scans may run out of room.

About Merge PDF

Merging PDFs is one of those tasks that sounds trivial until you try to do it without the right tool. Desktop PDF readers either hide it behind a paid tier or bury it in a print dialog, and most online tools require an upload, an account, or both. This one runs entirely in your browser, which means the file you merge never crosses the network.

That local processing has a practical consequence worth understanding: speed depends on your device, not on a server queue. Merging a handful of text PDFs is instant. A Premium merge of fifty scanned documents, each with a full-page image per page, takes noticeably longer and uses real memory — on a phone with several other apps open you may hit a limit that a laptop would not notice.

Page order is decided entirely by the order of the files you add, and it is the single thing people get wrong. Documents named "scan_1, scan_10, scan_2" sort the way a computer sorts strings, not the way you count. Rename with leading zeros before adding, or simply drag the thumbnails into place.

Tips and limits

  • Files named scan_1, scan_2 … scan_10 sort as 1, 10, 2. Rename to scan_01 first, or drag to reorder.
  • Merging preserves each source page exactly — it does not re-compress. Expect the output to be roughly the sum of the inputs.
  • Compress PDF will not rescue an oversized merge: in Lossless mode it only repacks the file structure; use Balanced or Strong to shrink the scanned images, or split the document or share a link instead.
  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before merging; an encrypted file cannot be read even locally.
  • Form fields and digital signatures usually do not survive a merge. Merge first, then sign.
