Choosing an image tool

Everything in this category decodes your image, draws it to a canvas and re-encodes it. Two consequences are worth knowing before you start. The work never leaves the browser — and the file you get back is a fresh one with no EXIF: no camera model, no GPS, no copyright field. If you need that metadata, keep the original.

Know what format comes back

Crop Image, Resize Image, Image Filters, Adjust Colors and Document Scanner always hand back a PNG. PNG is lossless, so nothing degrades, but a cropped photo can easily come back larger than the JPG that went in. Compress Image always writes JPEG, so run it last and expect transparency to be flattened. Rotate & Flip, Image Editor and Collage Maker let you pick.

Three tools that overlap

Their names suggest different capabilities; underneath they apply the same kind of effect. Image Editor gives you seven sliders — brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, blur, grayscale and sepia. Adjust Colors gives you six, including a warm-to-cool shift and an invert. Image Filters gives you fifteen one-click presets built from the same effects. Choose by how much control you want, not by expecting one to do something the others cannot.

Paperwork

Document Scanner and OCR Online work as a pair: the scanner black-and-white mode produces exactly the high-contrast image that text recognition reads best. The scanner adjusts tone only — there is no edge detection and no perspective correction, so photograph the page square and evenly lit. It returns one PNG per run; use JPG to PDF to assemble several pages into a document.

What these tools cannot do

• Remove Background keys out a single colour. You click the pixel to remove, or it averages the top-left corner, and everything close enough to that colour becomes transparent. It does well against a plain studio backdrop and fails on a busy or graduated background, and on hair.
• Image Upscaler interpolates and can sharpen. It adds pixels, not detail, and there is no denoising pass.
• None of these tools reads SVG. They decode raster formats only.
• OCR Online recognises printed text in 14 languages, served from this site rather than a third-party CDN. Handwriting is not supported, and the output is plain text — paragraph structure and layout are not preserved.
• There is no camera capture anywhere in this category. Every tool starts from a file you already have.

Free accounts handle one image at a time, up to 10 MB; Premium raises that to 50 images and 100 MB. Only Image Upscaler gates a feature rather than a quantity: 3x and 4x upscaling and the sharpening pass are Premium.
