Generating and reading codes

QR Code Generator Pro is where to start. It builds ten kinds of payload — a link, plain text, an email address, a phone number, an SMS, Wi-Fi credentials, a vCard, a WhatsApp message, a map location and a calendar event — then lets you style the dots and the corner eyes, set the colours, drop a logo in the middle and pick the error-correction level. It downloads as PNG or SVG. Take the SVG if the code is going anywhere near print: it scales to any size without softening.

Custom QR Design is the same generator with a smaller surface — two colours, a dot style and a logo — for when you want a branded code and nothing else. Bulk QR Generator is its batch form: paste one payload per line, or upload a CSV and it reads the first column.

A logo costs you data

Placing a logo in the centre forces the highest error-correction level, which is what lets the code survive having its middle covered. That redundancy comes out of capacity, so a long URL plus a large logo produces a dense code that phones struggle with. Nothing here checks that for you — scan the result with your own phone before you print a thousand of them.

Linear barcodes

Barcode Generator covers five symbologies: Code 128 (Code Set B), EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39 and ITF-14. Check digits and quiet zones are calculated for you, and an input that cannot be encoded in the chosen format is refused rather than silently mangled.

What these tools cannot do

  • Scan QR Code has no camera. It decodes a code from an image file you upload, using the browser own barcode detector — which means it works in Chrome, Edge and Opera, and refuses to run in Firefox and Safari rather than pretending otherwise.
  • It also reads QR codes only. It cannot read the linear barcodes that Barcode Generator produces, so there is no round-trip check available for those.
  • Code 128 here is Code Set B: printable ASCII. No GS1 application identifiers, no control characters, no numeric compaction.
  • Barcode Generator exports PNG only. There is no vector output, so a print shop that wants EPS or PDF will need the artwork rebuilt elsewhere.
  • Print Labels prints identical labels. It lays out a sheet on A4 and hands it to your browser print dialogue; every label carries the same text and the same code. It is not a mail merge, and it writes no file of its own — Save as PDF is a destination you choose in that dialogue, with the browser page size and margins.
  • Bulk QR Generator downloads one PNG at a time, not a ZIP, so most browsers will ask permission for multiple downloads. Five codes per run on a free account, one hundred on Premium, which is also the hard ceiling.

QR Code Generator Pro, Barcode Generator, Scan QR Code and Print Labels have no Premium gate at all. Custom QR Design keeps three of its five dot styles for Premium; the logo upload is free.
