Everyday text and number helpers
These are the tools with no file to upload and nothing to wait for. Type or paste, and the answer updates as you go. None of them has a size limit, a batch limit or a Premium tier.
Text
Text Utilities does two jobs. It converts case seven ways — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case — and it cleans up lines: remove extra spaces, remove tabs, remove line breaks, sort, reverse, remove duplicates. A panel counts words, sentences, paragraphs, lines and characters while you type, with an estimated reading time, which is the quickest way to check a piece of copy against a length limit.
It is deliberately not a Swiss army knife. Encoding and hashing live in Base64 Encoder and Hash Generator, where each can be done properly and explained, rather than buried in a dropdown.
Numbers
Unit Converter is the general instrument: length, weight, volume, area, temperature, speed, time and data, all converted through a common base unit. Length Converter and Speed Converter are narrower on purpose — each one shows the formula it used and a reference table of the conversions people look up most, and Speed Converter adds feet per second and Mach, which Unit Converter does not carry.
Integrity
Hash Generator digests text or a file with the browser own cryptography and gives you the hex digest. Pair it with ZIP / UNZIP when you want to prove that what came out of an archive is what went into it: hash before, hash after, compare.
What these tools cannot do
- Hash Generator cannot produce an MD5. It offers SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, because those are what the browser Web Crypto API implements. Shipping a separate implementation of a hash that is no longer sound for integrity checking would be the wrong favour — use SHA-256.
- Hash Generator needs a secure context. Over plain HTTP the browser withholds the crypto API entirely.
- Base64 Encoder encodes a file to a complete data: URL, prefix included, which is the form you want for embedding in CSS or HTML. There is no reverse for files: you cannot paste Base64 and download the binary back. Text converts in both directions.
- Unit Converter time category is arithmetic, not a calendar. A month is 30 days and a year is 365, so it will not agree with a date calculator across February or a leap year.
- Its data category is binary: a kilobyte is 1024 bytes. There is no decimal SI option, so it will read differently from a drive manufacturer specification.
- Mach in Speed Converter is fixed at 343 m/s — sea level, about 20 degrees Celsius. The speed of sound falls with temperature, so an aviation figure at altitude will not match.
- Nothing here saves or shares state. There is no URL to send someone with your input already in it.
